Campaigns
Separation
The Separation campaign was developed by Quit Victoria and first aired in 2008 in Victoria and again in 2009. The campaign has also been used in South Australia and in New York State in the US.
Before production on any new campaign, Quit goes through a lengthy process of exploratory and concept research with smokers to determine what will work best to motivate them to quit smoking.
The process with the Separation ad was no different and the overwhelming message from smokers was that they want to be reminded that smoking may not only impact on them, but also the lives of their loved ones.
Smokers said that the best way to get them to think about quitting was to highlight the potential loss and devastation felt by those loved ones, particularly children, they would leave behind. This is what the Separation aims to do.

Want to quit?
An important part of any quit attempt is access to information and support. This is available through the Quitline telephone support service or by talking to your GP or Pharmacist.
The Quitline is a confidential and non-judgmental service run by specially-trained people. Quitline advisors know how hard it can be for smokers to quit for good, and that it can take several attempts. They can provide information on any aspect of giving up smoking. The Quitline can send free self-help materials and offers a free telephone call-back support service to help smokers through the quitting process.
