3 ASPECTS OF SMOKING

WHAT CAN HELP ME

It’s pretty hard going it alone so get some support.

What you are dealing with

Tasmanian smoking laws

  • You can’t smoke in enclosed public spaces (so that’s a no for offices, malls, cinemas and public transport)
  • It is illegal to sell any tobacco product without a licence (yep, you can’t buy from your mate Johnno)
  • Illicit tobacco is a no-go. (That’s cigarettes that are illegally grown or smuggled in to dodge Australian laws and taxes). Telltale signs are dirty plastic bags of roughly processed tobacco, colourful cigarette packaging (not the ‘stylish’ brown and green), or not meeting on-pack graphic health warning requirements
  • You can’t smoke in a car if someone under 18 is with you. (Second-hand smoke can kill too)
