Build a support team

You don’t need to do it alone.

  • Quitline can help guide you there.

Our Tassie counsellors can be a part of your support team (and help you build one). Some methods of quitting give you a better chance of success than others, but the method you choose is a personal decision, and yours to make.

They can provide support around your preferred way. One of the most effective ways to quit is to use quitting medication prescribed by your doctor, or using a combination of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products such as patches and gum to manage withdrawals and learn new ways of managing life without cigarettes or vapes. Quitline will work around your individual preferences and support you as much as possible around your quitting goal.

With over 30 years’ experience helping people quit, and thousands of success stories, our Quitline counsellors are here to encourage and support you and have many tips to share with you. In fact, we can greatly increase your chances of making a successful quit attempt.

Give us a call for a chat about what you’d like to do next.  13 7848 (8am to 8pm Monday – Friday).

  • Asking a family member or friend for support – ideally someone who doesn’t smoke and is willing to help you stay on track.

  • Download a free quitting app, like My QuitBuddy.

It’s a fun, easy to use tool with practical tips and advice on quitting, with exercises and games to keep your hands busy and distract you when you feel a craving come on.

  • Talk to your local doctor or pharmacist. Ask them about nicotine replacement therapies or quitting medications. Quitting medications such as bupropion and varenicline are available on prescription. You can also get nicotine patches cheaper if you have a prescription.
