Christine’s story*

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

I was advised by my doctor to give up smoking (to prepare for surgery and for the obvious health issues surrounding smoking), but I enjoyed my smokes and was finding it very hard to get the motivation, I had a friend who also wanted to give up, we supported each other to reduce the amount we were smoking but both of us failed to give up by our “End Date”.

Then my neighbour said he also wanted to give up (and he was a heavier smoker than me), so we talked about a serious end date, even a time of day we could smoke up to, then we shook hands and agreed the first one of us to break out and “fail” would pay the other $1000. Its been the best motivation for me to give up and it’s now been 10 days since my last smoke – And I have no want to have another smoke or give him $1000!!!
